Duke was developed by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station in 1972 and introduced in 1986. Duke is a nearly season producer,with medium sized, darkblue berries, that has a mildly tart flavor. The Duke fruit is very firm and retains its fresh quality longer than most other varieties. Duke blooms late but ripens early, protecting blossoms from late frosts. It is a heavy consistent producer with upright growth habits, but branches will droop-to the ground when laden with fruit.Duke is best used for fresh market and home gardening. Zone 4-7.
