Northblue was introduced from the University of Minnesota in 1973. Northblue has plump,firm navy blue berries with very good quality.The fruit is sweet with a wild blueberry flavor that is superior to most high-bush varieties. Northblue berries stores well with refrigeration. Plants will grow 20 -30 inches tall and have large, dark green leaves that turn red in the fall. The Northblue will be a nice addition to any edible garden or used as a short boarder shrub. Northblue can yield 3 -7 pounds per bush if snow cover is adequate for winter protection. Northblue ripens in mid-July. Hardy to -35 degrees F. Zones 3-7.
